One of Bali's best kept secrets

Alila Manggis is a secluded, stylish seaside resort in Manggis, East Bali. Set amidst a coconut grove, the resort is nestled between the sea and the majestic Mount Agung, Bali’s most sacred mountain.

Head away from the crowds to an unspoilt east coast hotel in Candidasa such as Alila Manggis, where modern European shapes meet open, tropical design. Demonstrating creative function, elegant luxury and pure well-being, outdoors meets indoors throughout this boutique hotel.

Alila Manggis is situated on tranquil Buitan Beach within the regency of Karangasem, close to the town of Candidasa, and provides the perfect base from which to explore the unspoilt East.

The 53 rooms and two corner suites of Alila Manggis are housed in traditional two-storey thatched Balinese pavilions reminiscent of the village wantilan or meeting hall. Designed to maximise the views across the coconut grove, the swimming pool and the sea of Bali, hotel rooms at Alila Manggis provide the ideal ambiance for a relaxing getaway.

Bali’s perfect ocean views are captured from four two-storey buildings built around a palm-fringed pool, ideally demonstrating simple forms and Balinese touches. Days at Alila Manggis are filled with activity and regeneration, pampering at the Spa Alila, and pursuits by the sea such as discovering East Bali’s legendary dive sites. This is the life, East Bali style.

Sustainability

BookGreener believes that hotels that care about both the environment and their staff are also likely to take better care of their guests. Each of our hotels strive to be sustainable across as many areas of their business as possible.

Electricity is switched off in the vacant rooms and villas to limit the energy consumption

The hotel uses recycled water for watering the plants, grass and flowers to limit the use of clean water.

The hotel is working with the local community to create a GREEN BANK SYSTEM. Providing interactive training sessions and guidance the hotel promises to help manage their collected waste systematically and long term. Such efforts aim to motivate the community through learning, and rewards for the little things that they do to make a difference.

Alila Manggis collaborated with the Indonesian Bali-based NGO, Yayasan Alam Indonesia Lestari (LINI), to gain insight into the coral reef at the sea in front of Alila Manggis and work on the development of a coral reef conservation programme. Based on the rapid assessments of Bali’s reefs conducted by Conservation International, the reefs around the Candidasa area, namely Gili Tepekong, and West and East Gili Mimpang, are reefs of high conservation value. The reefs are influenced by the presence of cool water upwelling and consistently strong current flow from the Lombok Strait, and these factors may be particularly important in safeguarding against rising sea temperatures associated with global climate change.

Maintaining the property to keep as much as green as possible to reduce pollution as well as to create a healthy environment for the guest as well as for the staff.

The kitchen uses a special filter on the exhaust fan to remove kitchen pollutants and clean the smoke.

Guest can learn about the Coral conservation.

All rooms are designed with large windows and doors opening out on to the coconut grove, the swimming pool and the sea. This maximises airflow reducing the need for air-conditioning.
